I fear I’d be neglected if I attain veteran status – Actress Gloria Sarfo

Ghanaian Actresses and TV Presenter, Gloria Sarfo has said she fears being badly treated same as the veteran actors when she is old.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, Thursday, Sarfo bemoaned the total neglect of veterans, most of whom are still eager to take up roles in movies but are not invited to do so.

Three months ago, Miss Sarfo who took it upon herself to donate to about twelve (12) veteran actors and actresses on her birthday said she feels these matured actors have contributed so much to the movie sector.

Indicating that these veterans’ mentorship and inspiration is what ignited interest of most actors; hence should be supported in any way possible.

“There’s a time frame for everything so I know there will surely be a time where I will be relegated too.

But what I want to say is that, we should be well aware that the veterans paved the way for us, they made us know about some industries that we can fall on as careers and so, I think we should be very careful about how we ‘handle’ them at the moment. Yeah, I once visited them and did what I could but I’m not telling my colleagues to do what exactly I did. I just want them to know that, in those days these veterans did not benefit any value thing from their careers compared to us now, excuse my words, they never had the privileges we are having now. There were no proper labels or ambassadorial deals for them so if they are now begging for aids, the least thing we can do is to help them if we can.”

She also called on movie producers to employ the services of these veteran actors and actresses instead of making-up young actors and actresses as oldies in movies.
