Minister for Inner City and Zongo Development says he has been given a higher calling.
Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid said there is no better service he can provide than to serve the Zongo community.
He said this in an interview on Adom News Thursday after President Akufo-Addo’s maiden reshuffle.
The former Information Minister has been replaced by his deputy, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah whose appointment did not come as a surprise.
Also, vociferous Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, John Peter Amewu is now Energy Minister. Otiko Afisa Djaba, former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, whom many thought was out of the government is now Ambassador-designate to Italy.
This reshuffle has been described by political pundits as musical chairs since no appointee was sacked.
The choice of Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid to the Zongo Minister sent shivers down the spine of many who believe it’s a demotion.
But in his opinion, he has been given a higher calling by President Akufo-Addo as an Islamic scholar
“Quite frankly, I am beside myself; I have been given a higher calling” an excited minister said.
Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid thanked the President for the appointment and promised to continue to good works of his predecessor.
