Member of Parliament (MP) for Sagnarigu Constituency, Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini has disclosed that the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government will be showcasing its cluelessness and super incompetence if it heavily relies on the heritage fund to finance its flagship educational free, the Senior High School (SHS).
He argues that the fund is meant for future projects in the wake of the dissipating natural minerals in the country and that if it could be used that easily they would not have come to meet it.
Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini warned the current government maintaining not dare touch the heritage fund which has been reserved for future generations.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Bohye Fm, he disclosed that the NPP prior to assuming government claimed there was enough money to finance the free SHS programme because they had innovative ways of raising money in fulfilling that promise only to be eyeing the heritage fund as their last resort.
“They cannot use the heritage fund which has been set up to protect the future generations because of the diminishing the mineral wealth. Which government cannot implement free SHS if you will only need to use the oil revenue? Then there is no need for a government and it is clear they cannot think”, he told host Agya Yaw Obeng.
According to him, Ghanaians are not stupid to allow them to use oil money wondering where that money would have been if the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) decided to do same.
“They can spend the allocation to the budget but not the heritage fund. It is a completely lazy, bankrupt and inept thinking. We do not need a government if any government can come and use oil revenue because that the easiest way out”, he reiterated.
